US Brogans (Jefferson Davis Boots) were issued rough side out and resembled modern-day dress boots. (Recent research suggests smooth side out boots were equally common for volunteer regiments.) Made of oak tanned leather, dyed black and has pegged soles. Period brogans do not have “eyelets” – so we advise to take precaution when tying the laces. We also suggest using a leather dressing to waterproof and soften the leather. Stocked by half sizes starting at 7 thru a 13½. Heel plates are recommended to prolong the life of the heels.
