Metallic epaulets resembling scales worn by US troops on their frock coat or shell jacket as part of their “parade” or dress uniform which was one of three types of uniforms that the standard US Army had at the outbreak of war. The other two were the Campaign Uniform and the Fatigue Uniform. Epaulets were eventually replaced by shoulder straps.

Officer scales have the round nubs on each scale. Sold as a pair.
